UCDI launches a series of working meetings between defense industry producers and the Ministry of Strategic Industries

The Ukrainian Council of Defence Industry strengthens systematic work on legislative changes - invites defense industry producers to join the decision-making process.

UCDI, in partnership with the BRDO think tank, has initiated a series of working meetings between defense industry manufacturers and the Ministry of Strategic Industries. The goal is to develop specific changes to the regulatory framework that will remove barriers to the development of Ukrainian defense companies.

This is the first step towards formalizing a platform for a systematic dialogue between business and the state.

The first meeting was held on April 9 and brought together more than 20 participants, mostly lawyers from companies producing ammunition, UAVs, electronic warfare, electronic warfare, communications, and representatives of the Ministry of Strategic Industries.

The participants discussed critical barriers that hinder the development of the defense industry, including

• lack of long-term government contracts;

• a complicated procedure for codifying and registering product changes;

• delays in organizing testing and certification;

• dependence on imported components;

• staff shortage;

• limited access to investment and credit;

• export restrictions that complicate business planning.

Special attention was paid to the need to abolish duplicative fines:

3% per month for using an advance payment and 7% for late delivery. The manufacturers also emphasized the importance of closing sensitive information about the defense industry in public registers.

The next meeting will be held on April 16. Lawyers of manufacturing companies are invited to participate - to register, please fill out the form https://forms.gle/UyYEJxLBuJq7nKNaA

UCDI continues to form a strong expert position of defense industry manufacturers and act as a driver of changes that strengthen the country's defense capabilities.

“Among Gunsmiths” is a series of professional meetings organized by the Ukrainian Arms Manufacturers Council to establish cooperation between arms manufacturers, government agencies and financial institutions. This time, the key topic was the availability of financial resources for scaling, investment and sustainable development of the Ukrainian defense industry.
